Our commitment to the environment

At Aranjuez Lofts, we take our commitment to the environment as a daily practice. We seek to reduce the impact of our operation through the responsible use of resources, water reuse, the generation of renewable energy, and the incorporation of more efficient technologies.

Our philosophy is simple: make better use of the resources we have, reduce waste, and continuously seek new ways to operate more sustainably.

100%

of our lofts reuse water from the sinks for the toilets.

100%

of our sheets and cloths can be washed using collected rainwater.

Lofts 11-14

Our Lotus series also uses rainwater for toilet flushing.

One of our main initiatives is related to the responsible use of water.

Currently, 100% of our Lofts reuse water from the sinks to fill toilet tanks. In this way, a resource that would normally be discarded is reused within our apartments.

We also have a reservoir for collecting rainwater, which we use for different activities. This water allows us to wash 100% of our sheets and towels, and in our Lotus series, corresponding to Lofts 11 to 14, it is also used for filling toilets.

During the dry season, we need to resort to aqueduct water again; however, we are satisfied to know that during the rainy season we can take advantage of a resource that Costa Rica generously receives and use it efficiently.

Water: every drop counts

More than saving water

Rainwater has a lower concentration of dissolved minerals than conventional drinking water, which can facilitate the washing process and reduce the amount of detergent needed to achieve the results our cleaning standards require.

We also use part of this water for watering our indoor plants. It is a small practice that constantly reminds us that water can have more than one use before becoming waste.

Sustainability that also requires work

Being more sustainable does not simply mean consuming fewer resources. It also implies dedicating time, attention, and resources to ensure these systems function correctly. Rainwater harvesting requires constant maintenance. Toilet tanks must be disinfected more frequently, and the collection system filters need periodic cleaning. In particular, our washing machine filters require special attention to remove pollen and other particles that can accumulate on roofs and in collection gutters. We recognize that these practices represent more hours of work and greater maintenance efforts, but we consider them part of the true cost of operating in a more responsible way with our environment.

Our roof also produces energy

Our solar panels allow us to generate renewable energy and feed electricity into the grid of the National Power and Light Company (CNFL). Thus, our roof serves a dual purpose: protecting our apartments and, at the same time, becoming a small source of clean energy generation that contributes to reducing our dependence on conventional sources. We like to think that every square meter of roof can do more than just cover us: it can also produce energy.

Small decisions, one same purpose

Sustainability is also present in many decisions that may seem small, but together generate a significant impact. At Aranjuez Lofts we are progressively incorporating:

Waste recycling

LED lighting, with lower energy consumption and longer lifespan.

Rechargeable batteries, to reduce the consumption of disposable batteries.

Efficient water heating systems.

Reuse and utilization of rainwater and greywater, where our systems allow it.

Each of these actions is part of the same vision: to reduce our environmental footprint without compromising the comfort, cleanliness, and experience we want to offer our guests.

Sustainability is a journey

We do not claim that Aranjuez Lofts is a completely impact-free operation. We know that all human activity generates some impact. Our goal is different: to recognize that impact and work continuously to reduce it.
